Default Brake Identification

Wondering if someone can help me out here. I bought this set of juice brakes from a local guy. Still looking for another set but the problem I am having is why the insides of the drum look different between the two? Will they still work with the 12" backing plate?

The top drum is a 1940-'41. The bottom drum is a 1942-'48. Functionally and dimensionally, they are interchangeable........run 'em! DD

Post a close up of the 6 o'clock position of your backing plates and we will tell you what year you have. The pre and post war were different and you will need to know what you have to order parts. I think I can see what you have but don't want to guess.
