Default Early Ignition wire

I'm hearing the early ignition wire(From coil to dissy cap) had metal ends with a ridge on them which functioned to hold the wire in place. True and what did they look like?? Like the PEP Boys ends of the 50's??

The wire I bought from Bratton's about 20 years ago had the correct brass ends soldered to the wire. It fit tightly into place and as original, I don't use the rubber covers. Sometimes you have to push hard to make sure the brass terminals are all the way in.

Yep like this !
The one on the left is a brillman https://brillman.com/

the one on the right is a Beru part ( kinda hard to get ).....They both snap in to coil or distributor cap for a really nice fit...

The shiny new rapro end bits provided with my shiny new rapro H/T cable had been made, it turns out, with the detent ridge too far back from the tip. Arrrr....... They will, thusly, never engage the detents in either the coil or the distrbtr. Learned this after carefully soldering the crummy (!?!) new tips in place...... So, the coil wire that was on the car when I bought it about 1970, stays in service..... Engine runs now, so if I just don't go FIX anything else that isn't broken, I should be OK..... Meanwhile I'll try to figure out if it's worth the hassle to go after the vendor.... Not really.... Na.... No way... Meh!

You could take the ends offn the old wire and put them on the new wire.
