Horn motor rewind some free advertising for a good job done
Just got this back from Steve Smith who advertises in Model A magazines for horn rewinding. Rewound both field and armature and tuned it up for $95. Didn't have to pay in advance either as he enclosed a bill with the finished horns. Old fashioned nice. He did a good job too. I had another bid for $200 from another guy. Here is his email: [email protected]
Repair cost for the Model “A” horn motor section Also includes electric wiper motors #1 Basic dis-assembly and cleaning $ 40.00 #2 Rewinding of both field coils $ 30.00 $ 20.00 when included with #1 #3 Rewinding of the armature $ 45.00 $ 40.00 when included with #1 #4 Full repair including all of the above $ 95.00 Shipping via Priority Mail via the U.S. Post Office $ 8.00 ~ $10.00 Any parts used will be charged at the current list price as found in Snyder’s parts catalog. Any field or armature insulators that need to replaced are included in the cost. All repairs are only to the motor section and are made on as needed basics. No repainting or cosmetic repairs are made or provided. Notice: There are no replacement commentator’s or armatures available anywhere If the sections are still with the armature and in good shape but have come loose or broken off the mount they can be remounted at an minor additional charge. Most all armature’s can be saved as long as the shaft is in good shape and all the parts are still with it. Most repairs are done within 7 to 10 days after receiving the motor. Be sure to enclose a note with your return address, phone number and the problem you are having with the horn. Send via the U.S. Post Office only as they will hold it until I can pick it up. Steve Smith P.O. Box 505 Morristown, IN 46161-0505 For info call 317-502-1697 in the mornings between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon Indiana time Thanks Steve |

Yes, I'll second this recommendation! Steve did two horns for us last year and they turned out sounding great. Prices were well in line with work required, if not under-priced. I'll be sending him a couple more horns to repair later this year.
