Default Need help with carburetor

I don't know much about carburetors therefore I ask for your help. Recently my '39 Ford developed a problem - it started to die while coming to a stop like at a red light and yeld signs. I need to rev it up to keep it from stalling, then it idles fine while standing still. What may be the problem?

Yes, when stopping, the fuel in the carburetor may be sloshing back and forth and possibly dumping out of the discharge nozzles causing the stalling or rough running.

The float setting is 1 11/32" from the bottom of the float to the gasket surface on the carb top cover, with the float valve closed (float up). This is assuming the engine still has an original type Holley 94 type carb.
