Default 31 Roadster Spare Tire Support

Just put a new curved inner panel in my 31 Rumbleseat Roadster. Has anyone had a problem with the cast reinforcing iron that goes behind the panel. Mine doesn't seem to conform to the panel unless I put a spacer between it and the rear outer panel support bracket

I had the same issue on my 30 Roadster with replacement panel many years ago
I also had to make a spacer to make everything fit up tight.
