Default 1928 AA Express Truck on the HAMB

I have no connection to this sale, just saw it on the HAMB, an untouched '28 Express Truck, looks rough, but the price seams reasonable. I've always liked the looks of these. Someone needs to save it. Bob

Untouched perhaps. Virgin definitely not. A $2800 AA truck missing many parts.

Might make a good project for someone. This the truck similar to Waltons.

Aubrey, TX which is north of Dallas.

I may be way off base, but am going out on a limb and say the spare tire mount on the side of the bed is worth $500 alone. Anyway it is a point of departure for looking at just the value of the bed, cab, wheels, etc. This truck is one of the more valuable AA's and will rival many cars in value if restored well.

It sure makes it a lot easier when people add the address to what they are talking about: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=868579. If your computer is like mine you just highlight the address in the address bar and go cntl C on a PC or command C on a MAC. To paste it go cntl or command V. The ad on HAMB said it sold in 3 hours. Looks like more of a project than I would want to tackle.

Thanks, I'm excited about it - I have another '28 Express box but it's in horrible condition compared to this one. My wife saw the photos of the new truck "as is" and she is not as thrilled as I am - guess old car guys can see through the rust to what's potentially under there.

Imagine that! I got a good laugh out of that one.

Good luck with the truck! I like it.

Why? Why do you have to be a "Model A Guy" and find the negative in everything? I'm thrilled that the AA has a new home, if it was because of my post or not, it doesn't matter. The goal in posting the info was to let people here know it was listed on the HAMB, a site most of you hate. Have a nice day. Bob

What negative? And why are you saying all model A guys are negative?

He simply said it would have been easier for us to find it if you had posted the link. True of not? There was nothing said about hating the HAMB site by anyone.
He just felt that the goal would have been better met if there was a direct link to the ad and not having to search around for it.

You seem to have been stuck in the snow too long. Hope it and you thaw out and get the good things!!

Don:
Maybe sisters from another mother. Now take a good look at these photos and tell your wife, "See what this guy bought and he's still married to the same woman." Maybe my new truck will serve a sacrificial purpose for other old car guys out there to use to justify their new purchase. Just tell your wife, you can see through the grime and rust and there's real treasure hidden under there.

Looking at the engine compartment I think it should fire right up - I might want to power wash it first though. The engine number has an "AA" prefix and is an October 1928 number and has the original early metal wiring conduit from the terminal box to the generator. All joking aside, you can see the original engine splash pan under the starter (look beyond the dirt and trash). When was the last time you found a Model A that still had the original engine splash pans?

I think it will polish right out. Love the original company name painted on the driver's door! Now that's what I call "patina"!

Finally, here's what he looked like when he rolled off the assembly line in '28.
Fred

Model AA's only had wire wheels in 1928; in '29 they had a six hole disc wheel and in '30-'31 a five hole disc.

The '31 "deluxe" AA's also had wire wheels. My first vehicle was a '31 AA 280A and it came with 650x20 tires on split rim wire wheels.
