Brattons window felt. Please advise
I ordered a pair of 32 inch window felts , but the groove seems too wide compared to my glass thickness. Do I just narrow the felt by hand .
This is for my 30 4 door ts Drivers side back window Hope someone can help. Fredski |

You may have replacement glass with a more narrow thickness.

What did Bratton's say when you called them? Do they have an optional set for the thinner modern glass?

Re: Brattons window felt. Please advise
When I did the window felts for a customer about 20 years ago, I ordered the felts from Bratton's. You could order the felts with the riveted end clips installed, or order them a bit cheaper and rivet the clips your self. I ordered the riveted ones for the customer, and the do it yourself ones for my car, thinking they would be identical. They weren't, and the ones with the riveted ends were better, and worth paying the extra two or three dollars to buy.

Walt has retired. He may still be there occasionally, but you will probably need to talk to Debbie or Jeff.

What should the glass thickness be?

Re: Brattons window felt. Please advise
The original glass was 3/16"s and tempered. Laminated or safety glass is 1/4" which is common today. Pros and cons for each. I prefer the 1/4" laminated. Both fit the channels but the larger one is a more snug fit but won't rattle. if the width is a tight fit, the edges can be ground down a polished by car glass installers.
