Default GIlmore Gas Station at Farmer's Market, Los Angeles

There is a Farmer's Market in Los Angeles on the corner of 3rd and Fairfax. It was founded back in July of 1934.

There is a reproduction Gilmore Gas Station at the same site. It's been there for 10 or 15 years. The owner used to have a 1930 Model A pickup sitting in the bay (see pictures 1 and 2). My wife and I visited Farmer's Market a couple of Sunday's ago and unfortunately the Model A has been replaces with a 33 or 34 pickup (see pictures 3, 4, and 5).

The Model A had no motor.

The new truck is more complete and in better shape, but i miss the Model A. I wonder what happened to it?

Maybe it's gone to be restored or have an engine fitted and coming back? Both good looking trucks.

I am in the process of reproducing a 1930 gas station and have been for a year. It is indeed an expensive and tedious job. Obviously once you establish a brand name the others are of no interest to you. It sure looks good. Wayne

The next time i'm there i will take pictures of the inside.
I remember selling him some antique CA license plates and some Ford tools when it was first set up.

Like Manager said I would imagine it was removed to be restored like the current vehicle has been. BTW, that is a 1932 Model B pickup. Are you aware that the Gilmore's struck oil near that intersection (when the area was open fields) and partnered with two gentlemen later to open the "Farmers Market"? There is a great book on the history of the Gilmore Oil Company written by Charles Seims and Alan Darr. I bought it for it's coverage of Gilmore's auto racing endeavors but it is much more than that.
