Battery tender Jr. BUZZING??!?!?!?!
I've been using my battery tender this winter and so far so good HOWEVER, when the green light is flashing, it has been faintly buzzing with what sounds like a video game intermission melody.
Has anyone else heard these buzzing sounds or is my tender ready for the scrap heap from too much use or what???

Flashing green light means your battery is 80% charged. Does it ever achieve full charge (solid green)? I honestly never noticed any buzzing, but then again I haven't noticed it flashing much either. Mine is a 12v Battery Tender Jr.

Re: Battery tender Jr. BUZZING??!?!?!?!
I have a 6 Volt Battery Tender Jr., and the Battery Tender Junior Manual states that it will not turn on if the battery is dead or has less than three volts it will not start and the red light will flash. In that case, you will need to use a regular battery changer the charge the battery.
WORKING WITH A DEAD BATTERY OR A BATTERY WITH A VERY LOW VOLTAGE: If you try to charge a dead battery having a voltage below 3 Volts, the Battery Tender® Junior charger will not start. An internal safety circuit 1. prevents the charger from generating any output voltage unless it senses at least 3 Volts at the charger output. In this situation, the red light will continue to flash, indicating that a charge has not been initiated. You can find the manual on the battery Tender web site: www.batterytender.com David Serrano |

Switching regulators generally operate much above the audio range, but harmonics can cause internal ferrous materials to resonate. Nothing to worry about; modern designs will fail in a safe state.
Similar to an old transformer for a doorbell or model train, except they operate at mains frequency to begin with. Noisy but works. |
