Key needed for 39 Ford
I took my Ford to a locksmith and he had one of those little picks that criminals use to pick locks and he felt around in there and said that there were no "guts" inside the lock. I am wondering if I couldn't use a drill and drill out the steel plug that holds the lock cylinder in place like Mac Van Pelt did in this write up.....
http://vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/1939f...oration-10.htm I am thinking that I would not have to be quite so careful as Mac was in his description. After getting the plug out then the cylinder should come out also. I would ask Mac about this process but he is out of pocket for awhile. I could then buy another cylinder with matching key and install it. Not sure if they are hard to find. Maybe 32Phil has some cylinders in stock that would work? Comments will be appreciated

Try to buy an original lock. They are out there. The repos are a little lame.

I may have NOS locks. As has been previously advised, the repops are poop.
I'd suggest you thread that hole the plug came out of and install a pointed set screw in its place. If you'd like me to look for a lock, let me know.

Check with 32Phil or FlatheadCoupe, either one can probably put the guts back in for you or fix you up with a replacement cylinder.
