46 coupe
Hey guys, just got back from Hershey, really liked the 46 coupes. What should I be looking at, good and bad as I start looking for one. Thanks Model A owner.

Re: 46 coupe
It all depends if you want a complete running car or a project. Bottom line is get the most rust free car you can find. Get a sedan coupe(back seat) and make sure all the stainless trim is there. The trim on the 46 and early 47 is not reproduced and it can be pricey depending on what pieces may be missing. In the end you are better off and will save money and time by buying a finished car.

Re: 46 coupe
Thanks TJ. I think I would like a complete running car. The body would have to be in good shape. I am much better with the mechanicals. Are the V8's reliable?

Re: 46 coupe
The V-8s are reliable and so are the 6 cylinders. The 6 cylinder cars can usually be purchased a little cheaper and you don't see them as often as the V-8s. Actualy I have a fondness for the 6's as they usually run cooler and are simpler to work on.

This one is listed locally. It is not mine, but if I were to start on another one, I would love for it to look this clean! |

Re: 46 coupe
A friend of mine in Wentzville Missouri has a very nice one, 5-6 time Dearborn car. Not cheap but as nice as they come. I think it's a little over 20K

Stay away from any that have had inferior Chevy engines installed.

Re: 46 coupe
Open the doors and look at the rocker and sill area. This seems to be a bad rust out area. Also look under the front fenders at the lower cowl- another common area.
Truck floor, the spare tire well goes bad first. |
