Women and model A's
While driving down to the Candy store today (Bert's Model A), something on the radio made me think about Women and Model A's. They compare men to about everything on earth, so It's time to compare them to our other passion.
They come in many different shapes Most have big headlights Some have been known to go topless in the right circumstance Some are classy, some more sporty They are all high maintenance Some have some junk in the trunk But even though they are all different, they are all beautiful!

Dont forget the dings and dents compared to smooth body, the unrestored originals to fresh paint, ones that sound like a yard chipper to the ones that purr like a kitten... ;P

Re: Women and model A's
What Women Have in Common with Model A's:
--Both can be "accessorized" --Both can drive a man crazy in certain circumstances --Paint can hide some minor flaws --Too much plastic surgery is not good for the car or the woman --Some move faster than others --They may look good at 50 feet, but not so good when you get closer --Men sometimes trade them in for "newer models" --Both will take you to very nice places --Some of each are better suited to warmer climates --A man can give the Model A and a woman a pet name --Some women and some Model A's have been to places you will never know about --You can take both of them out to lunch at the same time --Just when you think you know all about what to expect from a woman or a Model A, they will throw you a surprise. |

There's a rumble seat line in there somewhere, but I'll let someone else speculate on that.

Re: Women and model A's
This may be something you have all seen before, my mother-in-law sent it to me the other day....
New Old Love It was in the month of July When we first did meet by chance She was pale, rough and worn But I took a second glance Though other men had had her Her beauty they could not see But I could see right through her And I knew what was meant too be I took her home and undressed her Her beauty to revive And after a year and a half together We both feel more alive I take her now to shows And parade her around the town And everyone stops and looks At the most beautiful thing around I guess by now you know it And I really don’t need to say I really love and cherish My old Ford Model A |

A teenager in the back seat of a Phaeton at a Dublin OH car show noted that Model A's get women names ... "because sometimes they are cranky."

Re: Women and model A's
Thanks ,Wayne and Dave. She was riddled with what looked like 30 caliber bullet holes Maybe 30.30 or 30.06 . I was able to hammer them flat, gas weld them and hammer them some more . I had wanted a 30-31 roadster sisce I was a teenager and had just about given up on ever finding one that I could afford. When she came up on eBay with a buy it now, I didn't hesitate. The price was right and nobody else wanted her. Being a bodyman and a shade tree mechanic I knew I could do something with her. She turned out to be a numbers matching car . I had another engine that I had planned to use but when I found that the engine and frame numbers matched, I had to go ahead and overhaul the engine that she had, even though it was stuck .

I am reminded of an old saying about revolving relationships :
"Old cars and old farts - Old farts and old cars. A perfect match - A perfect marriage - and blessed by heaven !" |

Re: Women and model A's
Dave, my red wheels are a ford truck color. The best that I remember it is 1984 jalapeno red. This is a clear coat color but was mixed in a single stage acrylic enamel substitute formula. You may have to go with the base coat clear coat urethane formula because a lot of acrylic enamel substitute formulas are no longer available. Its sort of a dark red that doesn't stand out too much as in being gawdy , in my opinion . I was mostly looking for arora red but nobody had a formula and I decided to go with the jalapeno red.
