I am nearing 60 and still learning, what I enjoy about the Ford Barn forum is the sharing of knowledge to everyone irrespective or age or experience, long may it continue.
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young. Henry Ford. |

Re: New Model A owners
I found a 31 tudor (55A) at a garage sale. It was the fourth of July and my wife wanted to go to a garage sale in the foot hills of the coast range mountains. I went home and rented a uhaul trailer to take it half way home. After my two hour going over the vehicle and a 20 minute test drive, I bought it from a guy that owned it for 44 years kept in his garage. He bought it as his get away car for the wedding with his wife 44 years ago. It was driven as a fun car. He kept it up well, but it is a survivor with components rebuilt. No rust and original metal. Nice. It looks 83 years old, but I get compliments where ever I take it. It get's driven everywhere I want to go. Model A's have been in my family for three generations.

Re: New Model A owners
I'm a 74 year old retired math prof; my wife is also a retired math prof, who is ageless. We have several classic Chevys, but got into the Model A business when we bought a 31 Deluxe Roadster at the Texas State Fair a few years ago. The car was restored several years ago and still looks great. Recently we picked up a 29 Phaeton that was partially restored. It's about ready to roll, but will still need interior work and a top.

Re: New Model A owners
I'm 39 and just bought a 1930 Tudor sedan a couple months ago. I just started working on it recently and I'm learning as I go. This is all new to me.

Re: New Model A owners
I was 23 when I bought my 29 tudor for $100 to drive to work. When it broke I read the book or asked a couple of friends for advice. Thank goodness for them! The local Model A Club (MARC) was a great help with activities, advice and parts trading. There was no internet, and Warshawky's/ JC Whitney and Sears were about the only parts sources. There weren't many reproduction parts.
Now I'm 76. Parts and information have never been better. What a great ride. |

Re: New Model A owners
My wife and I are both 33 and very recently became the proud owners of a '30 Standard Phaeton. We immediately joined the local Model A club (here in the Netherlands) but this club has no forum. So with all the questions of a new owner we find this website and it's members very very helpfull. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge!

Re: New Model A owners
Start a new thread titled "Starter Doesn't Spin" or some such that names the specific problem. Give details such as year of car, any modifications, etc. Details and pictures are great to get a problem solved quickly.
