Default oil from water outlet stud

ok, all you smarty pants, why is there oil seeping from under the nut on r/h water outlet holddown stud? 31000 well kept miles, peppy, good compression. i sealed it up but that ain't a fix. curiouser and curiouser. thanx, roger

Are you certain it is "oil" or a blackish carbon/fuel mixture that is seeping out? Generally small amounts of seepage are from combustion gasses seeping up from the combustion chamber past the gasket.

Mine was doing that. I think it was a blown head gasket. I had good compression. but chocolate milk was showing up in the oil fill tube. I changed the head gasket. No more milk in fill tube or oil out the water outlet stud.
