1934 4 cyl Passenger Toeboard
Is there a different trans cover when using the 4 cyl toeboard? There is a gap where the toeboard meets the front of the trans cover. Or is there a piece of wood that goes in there? Thanks

Re: 1934 4 cyl Passenger Toeboard
The sheet metal transmission floor plate is unique to the '33-'34 fours. It is shorter by about 1 1/2" and the opening for the shift lever housing is about 2" further back compared to the V-8 plate. The only wood in an original '33-'34 four-cylinder passenger car floor is the cover over the opening for the battery.

Re: 1934 4 cyl Passenger Toeboard
First I've heard a difference in the trans cover and toe board. My 34 Frame was originally a 4Cyl truck frame. Has a 34 stock 5W body on now.
So, if no toe board on the 4Cyc, what was used to fill the gap. Also would be interested in pictures showing the difference to the trans cover. Thanks. |

The fourcylinder engine is longer than the V8.
So the gearbox is situated a bit back compared to the V8 So you need to use a V8 transcover for the V8 And A four transcover if using a fourcylinder engine. Im quite shure that the toe board is the same. The rusty propshaft is for a V8.. |

The v8 toeboard is wood. The 4 cyl toeboard is steel as the wood gets in the way since the 4 cyl sets back further than the v8. The steel toeboard has a large dimple in it to clear the starter.

The photo below shows both the LHD and RHD versions of the '33-'34 passenger car #1 floor board. Note the raised area to clear the corner of the transmission bell housing. P.S. The restored RHD version in the photo is available as is an unrestored LHD version (not shown). |
