Re: Cost to ship cars?
Be careful who you hire to transport. There are a lot of names come up when you look for a transporter. In reality, many of these folks are brokers. They will quote you a price, often, on the low side. You think - great ! I have a couple higher quotes. You send them a credit card for a deposit, then the waiting begins. The broker will want to make some money, so he looks for someone with a truck, that is one or two cars short, going where the car is going, who will give him a deal. If time is not an issue, it can work out, but many possible pitfalls....ask me how I know

Re: Cost to ship cars?
The guy I used to haul a 48 chevy truck charged $1 per mile. I think he went up to $1.15 several months back.

Re: Cost to ship cars?
I sold a 1940 Ford Flatbed dump to a guy in North Carolina. Cost from CA was about a grand if I remember correctly and the truck was HEAVY. Got there safe and sound. He used a broker but the driver was from the next county over. A lot depends on if you're going to ship it on a large open car carrier that makes multiple stops along the way or if you want a smaller more direct shipper. Enclosed costs more.

Re: Cost to ship cars?
I bought a car from Nebraska. The seller had a woman call me for arrangements. She had me send her $700 and said when the car arrives give the driver $800. The driver had another car on his trailer bound for LA. Nice way to make $700 for making a phone call to the shipper.

Re: Cost to ship cars?
I use a guy from the Missouri area who hauls from Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.
I have had 4 vehicles shipped by him. All 4 were the same price $800 to the bridge in Detroit Michigan. Last edited by 38 Ford Pickup; 10-06-2014 at 06:35 AM. |

Dropping off this 1919 Model T P/U in Hays, KS tomorrow ....
Actual transport cost depends on: Vehicle Condition (running or rolling) Pick up & drop off zip codes Direct or indirect Open or enclosed Connecting loads How long you are willing to wait Jim |

Re: Cost to ship cars?
Another thing to watch out for.
If the hauler does not have a full load, they may wait until they can fill the trailer. Your car may sit in a parking lot for a couple of weeks. If your lucky, in a garage. |
