I’m restoring a ‘46 Merc not too far from you in St. Louis. I can take photos tomorrow and send to you. Never been successful posting photos, so I might need to email or text them to you.

The spring P/N is 11A 7523 for the clutch spring and is 6.3 inches long. Hooks from the pivot pin to a hole in the brace coming from the frame.

11A-7523 for the clutch pedal, 7.3" long and 99A-7523 for the brake, 7.6" long Not sure about mounting the clutch spring may mount on a small triangular shaped bracket mounted to one of the transmission mounting bolts??

Terry, great pictures. It took me 3 attempts to get the right clutch spring. Carpenter's illustration shows the spring on the left, but they shipped a spring like the ones on the right. I couldn't make it fit. Vanpelt's had the correct one. In their catalog they show it as 6.3 inches where the "green bible" shows 7.3 inches. My original spring was attached from the pivot pin to the crossmember toward the rear of the car. There is a predrilled hole there. On the brake return spring I never could figure where it would attach. I'm inclined to think it would go towards the front of the car, attached to a bracket which if true both of my cars are missing.
