Mystery Ford Parts?
This morning I found these pieces on the driveway where I was operating my car yesterday. The car idled on this spot for about 20 minutes before I drove it a couple miles. The car was also returned to this exact spot just prior to it being put back in the garage. The pieces look like they could be from my 1937 Ford but four other vehicles had been over the spot during the last 24 hours.
Question: Are these Ford pieces? And if they are--what are they? I will be looking in my books for them but I thought I would ask and see if some can ID these pieces. Any help appreciated. Thank you. TonyM Last edited by TonyM; 01-20-2013 at 06:58 PM. |

Re: Mystery Ford Parts?
Tony, What a lovely morning surprise!
That's my bet too. Crawl under and inspect the U joints. Start with the oldest car and work to the newest. The little rod is one of the needle bearings under the cap, so one of the caps on the end has definitely come off or apart. You should find about thirty more somewhere. -VT/Jeff |

Re: Mystery Ford Parts?
Yup, I'd also agree they sure look like U-joint pieces. Somebody who parked there is gonna experience some heavy vibration issues with their ride - or worse, very soon (if they haven't already)

Yes, it is a stock 1937 Ford driveline. Found info about closed system 37 universal in my stack of Ford Books that I have been buying. Good info and drawings. Thanks for the info. I found the pieces while I was leaving the property this A.M. and have not yet examined the car. And you know what? The good old boy who rents the house where I rent the garage does repairs on that driveway all the time. Between me and the other renter and the property owner, there is a lot of wrenching going on over there on that driveway. Thanks. TM Last edited by TonyM; 01-20-2013 at 07:37 PM. |
