Default 52 f1 flathead, oil fill

Is there any option out there so my motor isn't vented in the engine compartment so much as the oil fill??

If I'm understanding your query correctly, you want to vent the blow by out of the engine compartment. Am I correct?
If so, there used to be after-market kits (a road draft tube) sold that would swap your OEM breather for one with a metal (flexible) tube that was routed downward - below the engine.
They show up on eBay now and then but I'd think one could easily be fabricated.

The 8RT should have a road draft tube on the front that vents below the engine.

If it's blowing a lot out of the oil fill ,you could have a blockage in the vent tube or you have excessive blow-by.
The oil cap does have a filter screen.

You may want to consider a compression test.

PCV sytems can be installed, there should be some info here or on the HAMB.

Under normal crankcase ventilation operation the air is supposed to go in on the oil filler cap and come out at the tip of the road draft tube but excessive blow by at the rings can overwhelm the whole system. As was mentioned, a blockage of the road draft part of the system will make a new vent out of the filler cap. It pays to have an original oil cap too. Some of the other caps that will fit on there don't work out as well.

Make sure the oil fill tube is the stock height. Sometimes they are cut down for "looks". I did this to my '51 and replaced the stock unit with a really attractive chrome tube about 6" long. The next time I checked the oil, the right side of the engine was covered with oil. Long story short? The oil fill tube has to be that long in order to get it up in the airflow over the engine. Shortening it causes it to be down in the draft area of the fan which creates a low pressure are around the oil filler cap and makes the road draft work backwards from the way it should.

It's not a real common problem, but it happened to me. Replacing the short filler tube with a stock length one solved my problem.

It also a good idea to use a stock filler cap as mentioned above.
