Default Gasoline tank for 57 Wagon

I need a new gasoline tank for my 1957 Country Sedan. I will also need a new sending unit. Where is the best place, or a good place, to buy these?

A few years ago I investigated getting a new gas tank for my '55 Courier wagon and read the webpages of a few different manufacturers (some of which were suppliers of the repro parts places we all order parts from).
There was one place, I forget the name, that said they custom build a tank for any car.
I ordered a tank from Spectre because they listed the '55 Ford wagon tank built to OEM specifications. When I got it, it was an exact duplicate in every way to the original.
I suggest doing a web browser search "antique auto gas tanks" or something like that. You should get several listings.

Pricey indeed... the one for my Custom 300 was $157 at Rock Auto in 2015.

2015 vs 2020
Sedan vs. Station Wagon
Shipping costs?

As far as I know they are the only source for station wagon tanks so pricey is relative.

Comparing the sedan vs Ranchero/wagon (57, 58 and 59) is not a good look. The tanks are unique and not nearly as common as the sedans. Same for the Retractables, different then anything else around. Now, having said all of that, they are limited in requirement with respect to resale and still pricey but a very good product.

Worth every penny if you want original. For hot rodding a 93 - 96 F150 rear tank fits in the hole left after you cut out the sheet metal that was the spare tire well. Need to make mounts for it.

I have a used tank from a Ranchero. Same tank as a wagon. Surface rust on the outside. The Bung for the drain needs to be replaced. I can send you photos. $100.00

If you know the Ford part number, do a search under that. I looked, Rock Auto has nothing for the '57 wagon, but this is where I found my '59 Custom 300 tank for the best price.

Good tanks at reasonable prices. I have bought from them many times over the past 20 years.

Mine was for my avatar picture, bought the sender at the same time. Shipping was a total of $20 and they showed up in separate boxes shipped from different locations. Amazon had it for $172, the highest I saw was between $299 and $399 from the usual Ford parts places.

I'd say that $449 is not so bad if that is the only source. I looked around a little, Bob Drake is $459 and not in stock, saw some on eBay, $574.
