What are the actual symptoms of the problem you have?
Is this a stock engine?
Stock ignition? I know you said dual point, on a 47 Ford it could be factory or an aftermarket ignition.
With this info you can be pointed in the right direction as to testing the ignition.
Martin.

It is likely that one or other, or both point sets are grounded. We have been seeing lots of defective points lately where the paper insulator that holds the threads for the attaching screws is shorted. Many of these points have bad threads, or no threads at all. Most have weak springs that bounce badly. They are obviously offshore junk, but they have also shown up in those sold by a well known source.

Electronic. Was so simple , easy. I set it by vacuum and it hasn't missed a beat since, pulls like a freight train.
