The NAPA part # is ECH VR401...presume ECH stands for the Echlin ..
As far as polarizing the gen with each disconnect of the VR I made..no,I have not. I never disconnected the GEN after install, only the VR
I will go to NAPA tomorrow and talk with the parts guy on the available "notes" if any. There were no instructions in the box. The VR itself is stamped "made in USA"

Just got back from NAPA where the owner called the distributor of the VR and they said the VR should not need and adjustment out of the box....just polarize the gen and your good to go. NAPA gave me a new one and took back the old one and I just installed the new one and ALL IS GOOD.

7.5 volts when interrupter engages....I believe 6.7 volts at idle and after 4 hours rest 6.46 volts
