overdrive solenoid ID
I have an overdrive sol with 4AR10B-62 stamped on the cover. Can anybody tell me if that is a 6 volt or 12 volt unit?
Thanks for reply , hopefully somebody has an application chart , I believe thats the Borg-Warner number. Steve |

Re: overdrive solenoid ID
Not trying to be smart but have you tried it on a battery? I had a solenoid on a 53 trans I picked up that I thought was bad, after finding a replacement I tried the old one on 12v and it worked ever time. Someone in the past had replaced the 6v with a latter 12v solenoid. The one I'm using now is a delco, as long as the shaft length is the same all manufactures should work.

Re: overdrive solenoid ID
A 12 volt solenoid will have 12 volt stamped into the end bell (cover).
6 volt will have have nothing. |

Re: overdrive solenoid ID
yes I did test it with a 12 volt battery and it works fine, however not sure if it will respond with 6 volt power source. I don't have a 6 volt battery to test it with. So I thought someone on FB might have an application chart to just decipher the part number stamped on the cover.

Re: overdrive solenoid ID
I agree with post #4. The ones that I have seen are stamped 12V and a part number and the 6 volt ones just have a number on them.
