Re: Flushing sediment out of gas tank
I agree with Harley03joe, I junked an old hard drive and could not believe how strong the magnets were. I think these magnets may work better on the out side of the tank. I will have to play with some scrap metal and see. If I remember right the magnet only works on one surface. I also may put one on the bottom outside of the oil pan.

Re: Flushing sediment out of gas tank
So, my problem is that I have sand/small gravel in mine (somehow, I have no idea how). What is the best way to get it out and make sure the tank is clean inside? It is a very small space and I can't fit my shop vac in the hole. I have heard of "boiling" the tank as well as coating it inside with some sort of phosphate coating. Any ideas?
Thanks. |

Re: Flushing sediment out of gas tank
I duct taped a half inch plastic water pipe about 2 feet long to the vacuum hose, cleaned out everything!

Re: Flushing sediment out of gas tank
Yes washing soda...thanks Tom....it's made by Arm& Hammer! To clean the rust out once it's drained, I removed the valve on bottom of the tank duct taped the half inh water pipe to the vacuum hose. Replaced the valve, and filled it with alcohol to dry it out, drained that through a rag and still using it. Also put the pencil filter on the valve, and a filter between the carb and water separater.
