Default Headline sockets

Ok, so I disassembled a headline and did not pay attention. So my question is when you insert the headlamp plug into the bulb socket should the wire harness terminals be installed first or can they be installed after the socket is assembled?

My concern is that there seems to be a slight ridge in the plug, is that to prevent the the harness terminals from pulling out?

Guess you mean the socket at the back of the bucket the conduit attaches to -

The plug has letters on the back side, R/G/Y to match the color of the wire tracers. Insert the wires through the side and pull them back so the contacts are almost flush. Insert the plug so the grooves line up with the socket indents. If you have an older socket and a newer plug, be sure to align the single indent with the right-side groove or they won't connect right.

the head light pig tail HAS to be installed in the bucket before you can install the conduit and wiring. the ferrule on the end of the conduit connects to the pig tail on the back of the bucket.

So Jw, I can assemble the head lamp then insert lugs into the plug then insert plug into the socket after the headlight has been mounted onto the car? Thanks for the clarification.

Yes. Headlight completely assembled and mounted, then connect the conduit.
