Default My 1952 F1 Restoration Update

Today I parked my truck in the snow outside so that I would have room in my shop to work on the white oak boards for the bed I plan to buy shortly and some other woodworking projects I need to attend to. I got my wife to take some pictures and I thought I'd share a few.

Nice! Post pics of the bed as you get it finished and installed. I like woodworking as much as old cars and try to combine them whenever I can …..

I have a soft spot for the 51/2 ford pickups (it may come from to much Sandford and Son as a kid) so yours warms my soul. Yours appears to be a 5star package , very nice. You say 52 but the hood trim looks to be 51, am I missing something here? As I said in a earlier post I did a resto on a 5 star 51 for a friend and we drove the wheels off it all over this great country thanks to a 49 mercury overdrive we put in it. I hope you have as much fun in yours as we had in his. Tim

Agreed! That is a very handsome truck you have there. I too love the '51-'52 ford trucks and as a career woodworker I applaud you for using white oak for the bed wood. Nice color too.

Ok, that seals it! I need a 52 Ford pickup truck. I have never been really attracted to them. Maybe the grill?? Your red one is awesomeness! I would drive that! Yes Sanford and son, but yours is so clean and I like red!
Did they have chrome grills in any of these?
Thanks for the great pictures!
I can almost smell the oak being finished fi the bed!
Regards,
Chris

You are right. The hood trim is '51 and the flathead is '51. I don't know about the R10 overdrive but it's in that ball park too. The truck came with this hood and I think I like the look of the '51 better than the '52 so I'm leaving it.

Evidently so at least in Canada. The guy I bought a lot of parts from including the R10 overdrive has a '52 with a chrome grill and he says it's original.

Argent Silver grille at the start of 51. Body color color grille on the larger trucks as well. Beautiful work! The Ford block letter tailgate is a Canadian style? The tail lights appear to be original very late 52 when they changed to plastic ones.

Eagle43, I love your F-1 Pickup, but it is a 1951 model, not 1952

This is what the 1952 Ford F-1 looks like.
There are very slight differences between the 1951 and 1952 Ford Commercials.
It is easy to get confused.
Notice that the FORD Name and V8 Badges have swapped places.
