Mac's, Joblot and others. I've seen two pieces of thick leather or rubber sheet used in place of the hollow ball.

Yes there is. I haven't done it myself but people have said to place the ball on the end and shoot some compressed air through the small hole in the ball. It should just pop on. I think I put some vaseline on the ball when I did it. Not sure if every type of repro ball has the small hole.

Apply some lube to the ball, some compressed air through the small hole on the opposite end, and it pops right on......

Hello Everyone, Tom it's always good to follow your posts.

For context, we're talking about 3446, yes? Diagram from www.vanpeltsales.com

At $1.75 each, it's just the kind of deal where I'd buy three and never use the other two.

Anybody got an idea of what price that went for back in the day? I can imagine 15 or 30 cents!

OK - so they are $1.75 each and $9 to ship! and that is the cheap shipping taking a week to get. That's nuts! I'll go find a handball and use that instead .....

Thanks guys ....

I would try ebay. I needed a pilot bearing for a 1949 ford pickup and mac's wanted $6 plus $9 dollars shipping. I got the same bearing on ebay for $7 with free shipping.

It's the sort of thing that you just order when ordering something else.

Tom, 11 bucks to fix your suspension? That ain't bad. You want to try living this side of the pond.

Grease the end of the radius arm ball and your palm. As you push, the pressure and grease "seal" will inflate the bushing and pop on the ball.

I wouldn't use anything thats petroleum based. From seeing what a leaky transmission does to the rubber it will speed up the decay. Dish soap works great.
