1940 wiper tower
I would like to have my wiper tower replated but I don't know how to remove the shaft from the tower. Is there a set screw. I can't see anything in there The repops are unavailable at this time and my chains are ok. Thanks

Re: 1940 wiper tower
As I recall the small gear inside the housing is on a splined shaft. With a lot of patience it can be separated from the shaft. Put a nut on the end of the shaft so you can pull on it and use a pry tool to pry downward to get the gear to slide off.

Re: 1940 wiper tower
The last ones I took apart , I put a nut on the shaft to protect the threads then clamped the nut in the vise. Used a block of wood and drove the housing away from the shaft . Have also used a small slide hammer to remove the shaft.

Re: 1940 wiper tower
For what the plating will cost, I'd suggest you purchase reproductions.
