Default 40 door weatherstrip

I am installing the upper door weatherstrip on my Tudor. I need to know which way the strip should be installed. Does the wide side go against the top of the door or vertically with narrow side horizontal on top of the door. I assume the weatherstrip go on the door but I had a old door that looks like it never had an upper seal at all. It doesn't go on the body does it?

The photos (to me) are not very clear. However, I am nearly certain that the piece you depict is for above the door - on the body.

I agree with Mr. Kubarth. Here's what my 40 coupe door seal to seal the top of the door looks like. It does NOT attach to the door top as your photo seems to show. I imagine tudors are the same. Installed 1978. Also added other photos of front edge seal which attaches to body, not door. Scuff plate seal shown for bottom also. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the photos. It looks like the bead (i call it) on the weatherstrip is toward the opening on the top strip. But on the vertical it looks like the bead is toward the body and not toward the opening. Can you verify?

Yes, the bead at the top has the bead facing outward away from the body.
The bead on the door pillar has the bead facing inward.
