1935 ford pickup build
Hello from germany. I need some help to fix my emergency brake problems. My 35 pickup has a 59ab engine with a 50 mercury 3 speed transmission and hydraulic rear brakes installed. The rear brake cables comming out of the backing plates and ends with a clevis near the frame. Now I have to install everything to the front including a hand brake lever. Any idea what hand brake lever is the best for my tranny and what parts i need?

Re: 1935 ford pickup build
Since you donīt have the original transmount with the attachment point for a emergency brake lever you have to manufacture some kind of bracket for it.

I used a 37 PU handle in my 36 PU. Works good.

Re: 1935 ford pickup build
This would probably be more appropriate over on the H.A.M.B
While on the subject of brake handles ,does anyone have an emergency brake handle extension for a 35-36 Ford pickup or passenger car that they will part with?

Re: 1935 ford pickup build
I am going to try to adapt one of those handles to my 36 pickup, as I no longer have the brake rods that are activated by the other style.

Re: 1935 ford pickup build
Gary, that is what our '36 Pickup has, works fine I like it! Mounted under the dash of course on the left side of the steering column. That plus the starter button on the dash frees up your feet to hold in the clutch, brake, and give it a little gas.
Two good mods in my eyes. Oh, and coupeA31, welcome buddy!! Keep us up to snuff on your pickup she looks like a nice one!!! Good luck you will find lots of good information here to help you. |

Re: 1935 ford pickup build
when hydraulic brakes were put on a 36 wagon that I worked on it had been converted to a 37 emergency brake release mounted to the left side of the dash with the proper cable running to the rear cable like was used on 39/40 cars
