Default Factory round hole in rear quarter

Hi, I have talked about my “new” 65 Falcon, thanks for all the help. I have some rust repair in the rear quarter. I’ve noticed what seems to be a factory drilled hole on both sides. I don’t know but it seems to me that theses holes would allow water into the rear quarters. Should I plug them? Thanks Gino

I don't know anything about Falcons but as a generic question are these holes to allow the water that leaks into the trunk past the trunk lid seal to drain out?

If you are talking about a 5/8 inch diameter hole located near the bottom of the inner rear quarter, it is there to allow condensation to drain out of the rear quarter. The holes were plugged at the factory with a rubber snap-in plug. You should also notice the same holes on the inner rocker panels.

Thanks, I assumed the holes would allow water to drain, however they also allow for about one cup of water to remain at the bottom of the panels as the holes are not strategically place at the exact lowest point. I'm going to seal them and perhaps drill a hole where I think they would better serve. I'll look for some type of ( ribbed ) rubber plug, or maybe fabricate somthing. Still, any better ideas? I'm not stubborn. Thanks

Maybe you can find something like this only smaller. I’ve used them, they work pretty good.

Those factory stamped round holes are there for a reason. They came through with a rubber plug.

Usually, a water seep hole is located in the seam weld (say between a quarter panel and out wheelhouse and is subject to be blocked by road dirt. If you refer to the SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE, you will usually see references to making sure they are unobstructed.
