Default Timesaver Paste to final fit Ford A main & Rod Brg

Has any club members used Timesaver Paste for the final fit of main & rod babbett bearings? If so what is your experience and results and which grade of Timesaver paste did you use. Thanks for all responses.

I have been using the yellow on T bearings for many years. I do scrape the high spots and final fit with the Timesaver. No issues so far. I am trying one of the kits on a T engine I am putting together. The yellow if for final fitting so am in the process of starting out with one of the bit more aggressive grits. Seems to be going good.

Only the yellow Timesaver is intended for use with babbitt and it comes it three grades of abrasive. I've only used the two finer grits. Check their website for information and I believe there some YouTube videos that show how it is used. My advice is to not exceed the percentage of Timesaver in the oil when mixing it up and to take your time about bedding in the shaft, i.e., proceed gently and don't be too aggressive.

I remember a story by a member here that fitted a smaller undersize connecting rod to a crankshaft that was ground to a larger undersize . I don't remember the exact under sizes but the rod journal was smaller than the crank journal . Babbit can or usually has some high spots that need to be scraped down or dealt with otherwise . Timesaver is a good product for fitting babbit bearings .
