Default Mid week short: Crusty Flatty build progress.

Hi I'm trying to play catchup a bit to get the flatty build videos up to date. So here's a mid week quickie. I'm just doing the things that need doing. Rear block off plate, Mains torqued, aligned, and wired, and pinning the big ends. I'll get another one knocked together and hopefully out at the weekend. Thanks to all that have been following the Crusty Flatty series. I'm enjoying the build, and I'm hoping you are enjoying following it.

Please click like, leave a comment and subscribe. It all helps with YouTube's algorithms. respond to the thread too, it helps to get a bump, especially on the hamb.

Cheers!

Mart.

I watched this one Mart. I found the rear block off plate/ gear design interesting. On all the engines I have worked on the oil pump drive gear is mounted in the block with a pin with a head on it to retain the gear.
On yours it appears the cover has the pin that the gear rides on. Is this a Canadian design?
Or only used on engines that were exported from the U.S.?
Also make sure those cotter/ split pins are tight in the big end nuts. I have heard if not they will get damaged if loose from the constant pounding of the crank.

Yes, cas I rarely throw anything away. The alternative is to sand the nuts down or skim them on the lathe. (Everyone's got a lathe, right?).

Thanks for watching.

Enjoyed this one - all of them really. I'm hoping to someday rebuild my flatty and I'm learning a lot.
Thanks!
