Default Rear Seat

1930 Tudor sedan rear seat question. What is missing the seat I have does not have brackets to attach the seat to the body?

You're missing the brackets.

Seriously, if you can post a picture of what you have, it would help.

The bottom cushion is not attached to the body. It slides in under the back cushion and is held in tension by the lower platform.

The upper cushion has 2 metal tabs on the wood frame that slide into slits in the structure supporting the rear panel.

Here are the tabs...

The lower seat cushion has two metal brackets that are attached to the front of the seat cushion wood fame and seat in just behind the seat riser thus preventing the cushion from sliding forward

I have attached photos of the seat that I have. I am not sure it is a complete seat. I think there should be a wood frame on the rear of the springs. I was told it is out of a 1928 tudor sedan.

How does the back cushion attach to the rear of the vehicle with no wood to attach the bracket? Could you send a picture of yours?

There is two hooks on the inside of the body and the top of the spring wires clip into these hooks. I will try to get a photo later.

Here is the backrest wood that all our vendors sell for 28-31 Model A Tudors...

Here's the picture of a Model A Tudor rear seat I posted on the OP's other thread on the same subject...

Here's the seat back the OP has...

They look different to me. The upholstery on the OP's covers some of the wood which makes identifying it tough, but the outside 2 vertical wood pieces on the top one should show on the bottom one and they don't.

I'd try a test fit in the Tudor. I could be wrong, or someone may have modified another seat to fit in a Tudor.

Interesting. I'm stumped. When I redid my Tudor this time last year the frame is identical to what Dick has posted. I don't recall ever seeing the "loop" retainers or the taper on the slats. Is it possible this is a Canadian built car. There were differences as well all know.

The seat I have does not have any wood at the top just open spring frame and the material is hog ringed to the spring framing. So if this was an early 1928 seat they may have been different than the 30-31? Midgetracer said his seat looks just like mine.

According to the Clastique's PDF for Tudor page 4 some Tudors did have this frame
https://www.classtiqueupholstery.com...o_31_Tudor.pdf

Not sure of the mountings though, maybe give them a call

Dang! someone has the answer. Just checked some of my books with no luck. I'm still thinkin Canadian or perhaps Phaeton rear seat backrest. Can't wait to hear more from Midgetracer.

That could be it. Great research!

The next step would be a test fit.

Attached are the pictures I promised. My car is a 29 Tudor made in the Twin Cities. It is always been together and I am sure the wood and hooks are original. Hooks are as pictured earlier and are screwed to the wood below the window sides.

The wire that the upholstery is hog ringed to slides over the hooks. I have a second Tudor that has the same wood. NO top wood, only the wood as shown in my pictures.
