When I wrecked my A , the first thing the insurance agent did was verify the number matched his records.

In Canada there is only a number on the left side of the block . Nothing on the frame or on the cowel .

My Town Sedan is registered in California by the engine number. When I insured it (AAA) the agent came to my house (he also wanted to "see" my garage)to get the number off of the engine so it is also insured under the engine number. I have no idea what my frame number is.

The engine number does fall into the correct time period, August 1930.

I bought my restored Model A Town Sedan from a gentleman in upstate New York. During the restoration process, he made a tracing of the number on the frame, which he gave me when I bought the car, and it does also match the engine number. When I registered the car in California, I used AAA, and took along that tracing to show the agent whom registered my car, which definitely helped.

Yep, I took pictures of the number and also tracings when I applied, and they used both for the records.

That is probably who'd I'd use also. I have heard nothing but good things about Schwalm's they do outstanding work.

At last years national meet in Gettysburg I toured Schwalms's shop and I was very impressed with all the equipment and cleanliness as well as all their professionalism.

Jim off hand I'd guess about $4,000. Lay aside 4500 to be sure. I think that price there abouts includes a balancing job also.

Agree...$4,500 for a nicely rebuilt Model A Engine. Almost everyone uses adjustable valves these days. Ernie in Arizona.
