Removing the Gas Tank 1930 Cabriolet.
Greetings,
I'm going to remove the gas tank from my 1930 Model A Cabriolet. Has anyone had any experience with removing one and any tips offered would be very much appreciated? Thank you. Kind Regards, batchey Last edited by batchey; 09-15-2019 at 05:29 PM. |

Welcome to Fordbarn!! Yes, you will need to remove the instrument panel wiring and speedometer cable, along with the tank filler panel. There should be some tank clamps behind the cowl kick panels that will need to be removed. Naturally the tank will need to be drained along with the line connecting the shut-off valve to the firewall removed. The steering column clamp will need to be removed, and all of the fasteners at the firewall and below the filler strip. While it is easier to remove the tank with the windshield removed, it can be opened fully and removed however my advice is to remove the windshield also. Post back if you have any further questions. |

Re: Removing the Gas Tank 1930 Cabriolet.
Flamingo,
Thanks for the reply. The reason why I want to take the tank out is because of all of the rust and other debris inside of the tank. I took a day and did nothing but try to drain the rust out of the tank and there appears to be no end in sight. Thank you. Kind Regards, batchey |
