I don’t really understand the question.

There’s just the one bolt. Are you talking about fan belt adjustment?

The vendors offer a part that helps hold the generator in place. Attaches to one of the timing cover bolts. Helps with the fan belt tension adjustment.

I usually use a 3/4 box wrench on the bolt head by the timing cover, and a extension on a 3/4 socket wrench for the nut. The extension being long enough so that the ratchet wrench clears the back of the generator.

If the bolt runs out of threads before the nut tightens up , I would add a washer . Are you sure that you have the correct nut and bolt that attaches the generator

I am having trouble putting a wrench on the head of the bolt with the pully on or off.

Thanks for all of the replies so far !

Do you have an original generator? How about a picture?

I decide to stop today and may try again tomorrow. Like my 101 year old mother told me I never had any problems with a model a 50 years ago. I told her I loved her !

I like to use a rod coupling for the nut.

Good idea! You could also then braze a bolt into the coupling that would be long enough to easily get a wrench on the extended end.
