I think another issue with repop parts getting harder to fi d is the market is shrinking and investors are leary of the future of the hobby. This has been going on prior to the tariffs

Actually I kind of have. My Chicago experience was traveling through on a trip to Ontario in December to pick up my 34 phaeton a couple years ago. I spent about $100 on tolls to pass through both directions on the freeway with my truck and trailer. The only positive memory I have is their rest area / gas station facilities in the middle of the freeway being convenient.

I'm about 200 miles north of Portland. I was not aware of that rule. It sounds like a historic district backed rule though.

Good news is we can actually call and ask if an item is in stock. Then decide to order or not. I know that calling is a hassle, but at least it not one of those exhausting rotary dials.

I don't have an issue with this.

I know the hobby isn't going anywhere. Newbie guys and gals are getting into a lifestyle, if you want to help that... help to add to the lifestyle. Events like the race of gentlemen or the Colorado hill climbs are a great start. Or get a instagram account and start posting to them newbies.

There are so many options now days. It'll change as things do, but the true hardcore people are going to pay or want the good stuff. Less demand / higher prices for quality parts. Eco101. Make a good part people will buy it. Ask Bradleys floor pans, no lack of people throwing them money.

Yes - here is a little fact about Walmart . . .

By the mid 80s' they had 882 stores with sales of $8.4 billion and 104,000 associates. Happened long before the Millennials and the internet . . .

Sam Walton was baby boomer from the WWI era. He grew up during the depression and they had to move a lot after they left the family farm. His father was in the mortgage & insurance business with his brother and was the guy who likely foreclosed on a lot of the grapes of wrath farmers of that era. That's probably why they moved around so much. Walmart is a product of Sam Walton and the American consumer.

Every large scale war had its baby boom. World War I was no exception. My Grandpop on my mothers side had six children after coming home from France. The average boomer after 1945 was four children. Just because we don't call them that doesn't mean they weren't.

As far as growing up, I don't know quite what a person could say differently. I had a lot of respect for my Father and Mother and both of them grew to adulthood during that era. I think it made them tougher for the life that was about to come to them after World War II started. That's why they are largely referred to as the "Greatest Generation" or the "Silent Generation" which ever you prefer.

The two labels are two different eras. The GGs are 1905 to 1925 and the SGs are 1925 to 1945. The boomers, as you note, were 1945 to 1965. And, by the way, have you noticed the exploding number of large housing establishments aimed at taking care of old people? In my neck of the woods it seems every large vacant piece of property is getting one!

We buy our parts from C&G (800/266-0470). They can, and will, give you whether the part is in stock, and the probable availability if it isn't. Now that old stock is mostly gone, it is getting very difficult to find parts at any cost.
