Default '55 Vic Hi Perf. 272

My newly acquired '55 Victoria has the stock 272 Special V-8 producing 182 hp.
Besides the 4 bbl carb, duals and 8.5:1 comp. ratio does anyone know if the cam was different?
Also, how was the comp. ratio increased...via the combustion chambers or crowned pistons?

The camshaft in the 182 HP 272 Y-Block is the same as the 272 2 barrel cam. The compression ratio of your engine was increased from 7.5:1 to 8.5: 1 by using different casting number cylinder heads that had slightly smaller combustion chambers.
