Default Pickup Side Mount

I am restoring a 30 CCPU. It came to me with a passenger side side mount spare only. All of the other 30 CCPU's I have seen have a drivers side spare. Could mine have possibly come from the factory this way or is it a mash-up of parts? Thanks.

I think it is not authentic. I have never seen or read about one with a RH spare.

Is the mounted to the frame with bolts (maybe dealer installed or later "restorer"?) or riveted from the factory? My '31 RDPU has a drivers side mount.

My understanding is that the pickups had the spare on the drivers side in case they wanted to mount a ladder rack on the passenger side. Almost assuredly done after market but could have been done for a specific purpose some owner had in mind.

Look at pictures of old phone company trucks. They had ladders mounted on the left, with spare tires mounted on the right.I worked on a 29 truck that was ex phone company,it has a riveted right mounted spare.

I agree with Keith True . It could be a telephone truck , especially being as the bracket is riveted to the frame . Telephone trucks probably came from the factory with right hand mounted spare tire brackets .
