Default Sector shaft centralization

Is there any way possible that the steering box sector shaft can be re-centralized without removing the steering box from the frame?

Not sure what you are trying to do or the problem you are trying to solve? Are you using a non standard drag link that is the wrong length?

If you loosen things, that eccentric might move. With effort, you can get to it while the gear is in the car. My guess is that your worm gear is worn in the center and you need a new one. We all need a new one.

I think the previous owner installed a new sector without centering the side plate to the worm gear. Now, any efforts to reduce lash with the normal eccentric tightens up the steering as it should in one direction but in one direction to where you cant turn the wheel. It appears to not have been properly centered with respect to the worm.

Give it a shot, but what you are experiencing is normal. The other common problem is you think you have it adjusted good and when you put the car on it's wheels, it all changes and binds up in one direction. Stick with it. Good luck.

I just rebuilt three, two tooth steering columns and the adjustments of the eccentric and the axial motion of the sector gear is very fine or sensitive. I don't believe it is possible to achieve the optimum adjustment while it is in the car.
