Default New 35-36 and 37-39 Pickup Pedal Plates

Hello... some of you may know by now that I’ve been slowly piecing my ‘36 pickup together and one of the items I was missing for my pickup was the pedal plate. Fortunately for me a nice gentleman on this forum named GaryU very graciously sent me a pedal plate for my pickup. Soon after, I realized there were many others missing this piece, or at least the correct pedal plate, for their 35-36 pickups (maybe it fits other years as well), so I decided I would make a dozen of these to fill that need. I was able to use the original pedal plate that Gary sent me, as well as an original Ford drawing to confirm dimensions, to replicate the pedal plates from 18g steel. I’m not in the business of making and selling restoration parts, just trying help out however I can with these old Fords.

Are you sure that there is enough of an opening for the pedals to move in and out? I was not aware that there was such a part, since there are no holes for fasteners on my toe board.

It’s the exact same as the original. Looking at your toe board, I can see what looks like the three screw holes. However, I’ve been wrong on here before.

Bruce, Old Gold is right on with his repop. He used my drawings shown above to confirm his work. Here is your photo with the holes highlighted

And he used the later plate I sent him as a help. Those turned out perfect and it was great that you made more for other’s to use on their projects. And remember not just “Gary” but GaryU.

My apologies GaryU. I wasn't sure if you preferred to remain anonymous. I plan to use one of my plates on my pickup, so let me know if I can send the plate you gave me back to you or if I should pass it on to someone else. I can also send you one of my plates if you'd like one of those instead.

For anyone needing one of these plates, feel free to PM me. I initially made 12, and 5 are spoken for. I am still trying to figure out what a fair price would be to charge for these plates (perhaps you guys can help me out there). I am a metal shaper by trade, and I do not make my living from mass producing parts so I am not looking to make money on this, but at the same time I can't do it all for free... unfortunately. I have received a lot of help on this site and fellow members here have been very generous to me. I saw a small need that I felt I could fill. These old 35-36 pickups are hard, if not impossible, to find new quality sheetmetal parts for and this is just one less piece us pickup guys need to search for, unless of course you're looking for original Ford, then I say good luck.

Thanks for the kind words!

The slots are long so the floor board can slide past the pedals. The small plate then covers the long slots. The pedals swing in an arc through the floor board so they only need a small opening.

OldGold, please pass that plate on to someone needing it. The plate has an extra cut out on top for the parking brake cable that I think was from 1937-1939. This was when the assembly was moved from the transmission mount to under the dash to the left of the driver. Just giving you grief on the name, so glad I could help and what you've made are what you'd hope every reproduction out there was, an exact copy of the original. Don't need a "new" plate back but if someone asks I'll send them you're way!

Sounds good GaryU, Thanks! I do know someone with a ‘37 pickup so I’ll check and see if he is missing the pedal plate for it. Thanks again for providing the pedal plate that helped make these 35-36 versions. Next, I might have to make tooling to form the inner door bottoms and the rear cab corners since those are just as hard to find and nobody is making them.

Those look great, nice work. Looks like you are good enough to try the piece that covers the windshield hinges and wiper motor. Most of the time people what about a $100 each for a original. Good luck! Ron

If theres enough people that would want the hinge/wiper covers, I’d be willing to make the tooling to stamp them out. I do have some originals to use for patterns. I could have them ready in 2-3 weeks. I bet I could offer them for $80 for the pair, probably even less. Let’s see if there’s any interest first. It’s a good idea though.

Now available... 37-39 pickup pedal plates. Are these the same for 37 cars as well?

No, the 1937 passenger car plate is different, not as tall and a different rib style.

Thanks Zeke3. I came across an old thread where it was thought the 37 cars were the same, but never confirmed. Thank you for clarifying this.
