Default Little Dearborn's New Location

I picked up my new carb, rear shackles, and front wheel bearings at their new location. Terry has taken over from Roger and Dave is there too. They are still setting up but are up and running. I miss the old place, but their new spot if pretty cool.

have they torn the old building down yet? I had heard the building was already sold at the end of last year and the developer was itching to get busy with the wrecking ball.

It's a shame, that's a beautiful old building, to be replaced by a faceless monolithic apartment building

Lots of history in the old building. I remember driving down to the cities from St Cloud to get the right part from old "Pete" at Dearborn. He would even take you up stairs into his "stash" of parts to have you find what you were looking for. I think he really knew what and where it was located , but enjoyed the hunt through the shelves and bins.
Ddi they move a lot of their inventory out to the new place in the suburbs? Did they ever have an auction to sell off any of it?

Old location still standing. Saw it yesterday while taking my freshman son to the University of Minnesota. Never got there before they closed doors but glad they are still in business at the new location.

Steve

They had online auctions for almost a year, and I was able to buy a few things..

when I visited St. Paul in june I had the opportunity to see the place JUST before it closed forever.

That was the most fascinating parts store I've ever been in. Roger is incredibly knowledgeable on parts, too. And also one of the most honest people I've done business with.

I lost my job last November, and I took my severance settlement and used it to buy parts at their auctions. I've been selling them for 9 months now and I've barely scratched the surface. It's not a new career but it's given me a significant amount of breathing room while I get my new business venture off the ground. Not really on topic, but I'll never work FOR anyone again. It's a great feeling.

It should be pointed out that the pictures posted were taken during the auction - and not representative of the way it was. Always a pleasure to have either Roger or Terry let you wander around and look.
