Lou,
Don't be afraid to drive your car. There's no sense having one, if you don't use it. I knew the reality that something like this could happen. I brought every spare part I could think of to bring. Just couldn't fit a spare engine in the rumble seat. Where would I pack my wife's clothes?

I'll post more updates as this plan with "freddys35" comes together.
Paul

Paul
I once had a Volks. There WAS room enough for a spare engine in that trunk.

Yes and if you owned a Volks you needed one. At least that was my experience. Marv

Paul, sorry to read that your flatty let you down. I just saw this and my first thought was time for a HAMB relay for your engine. But without looking over there yet I'm guessing those wheels are already in motion. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Lee,
I have been talking with my AZ connections and they are working a loaner/purchse flathead. Waiting for a call back with more details. I still have a fresh engine in my garage. May need to ship it or, like you say, arrange a "hamb relay." Unbelievable response from the HAMB and fordbarn. But it's what I thought I'd get when I posted my dilima.
Great guys and web sites.
Paul

Paul,
I've always wanted to build like yours! Those leary of flathead durability, because of not knowing this style engine, would benefit greatly from followup from you on the cause of such failure! You've helped the likes of me with info at times in the past. Please let us know what/why when you get time. To your knowledge, how many miles were on this engine prior to this problem? TIA, Rick

Paul, I certainly will keep driving the Ford. I was just musing that it sure has been a tough early fall season with two road travelers having engine issues. I know you'll find a way and all will work out okay. As you can see from the responses we are all pulling for you. LouB.

Thats just terrible. Call me if you need any parts. I've got a fuel pump or two I can send. What's your bearing size? You can do it all from under your roadster. Keep us posted....Dick

Mike,
Mike Latus found a loaner engine for me. Bruce is picking it up this week. He's getting his garage set up for the swap. Should only take a day and a half. One day, when I do it myself, an extra half with help.
See you soon.
Paul
PS: I don't think I can afford an Abbin engine. Plus they make too much power for my chassis. Sure would be fun to drive one, though.

Dick,
I'm good with pumps. Have a spare, too. Not sure of the bearing size. I'm going to swap out the engine with a loaner. Then get into the engine to see how bad the damage is. I'll try to post what I find. There are several folks on here, wanting to know the cause.
See you at the Christmas party when we fly home.
Paul

Paul, If you haven't found any help yet try giving Ray Marler & Chris Whittington at Shoebox Ford In Oklahoma City a call at 800-732-6029. They have everything you can ask for including rebuilt motors & they're only about 120 miles away.

I buy most of my parts there.

Tell them Butchbov sent you.

Thanks for the kind offer. However, within the hour, another fordbarner is coming to rescue us.

Where are you located?

Thanks again for offering to help.

Man, tough break with your mills. I guess your lead foot is just tearing them apart.

If there is anything I can do from NJ, please let me know. Best of luck and please keep 'um flat!
