It's getting humid out this time of year. My compressor is spitting out water. I cannot imagine doing any painting with this situation. I have no need to oil air tools, as I have electric impact wrenches. Does anyone have a recommendation for a water and moisture extractor for my compressor? I don't mind spending a couple of hundred, but some of them out there are over the top in cost.

Anything made by DeVilbiss is great. Don't shoot cheap because the quality just isn't there. I have a DeVilbiss water and air separator and so far I haven't had any complaints.

Have you opened the drain valve on the bottom of the tank and drained the water out?

How far is the compresser from the point of use,how large is the pipe, are there water drains, slope in pipes--- this gives the moisture a chance to drain back

Ditto on this if you aren't already doing it . Many tanks rust out in the bottom from this . Always drain the tank when you are done .

Install an automatic tank drain, link below. Also you need a down leg with manual valve at each air line outlet. Also a good filter and water separator are important.

Use black pipe not copper or plastic to condense the moisture and mount your separator as far down stream as possible.

I have 2 cheapy inline filter/moisture separators upstream of the pressure regulator. Also an air conditioner and a dehumidifier in the workshop. Very little moisture in the air being compressed. It works very well, cool and comfortable.

I made a condenser from a commercial air condition coil.
I “banked” it to accommodate the CFMs by basically dividing in half.
I have a large separator coming off it
Used it for 30 years and no shop condensation what so ever
Can post pics if anyone has that much interest

Get on the internet and investigate removing moisture from air going to a paint booth. You will find hints and air line schematics. I had a similar problem. One of the simple things to do is get 50 feet of 1/2 in. min. coiled air line to cool the air coming out of the compressor. Then route the air line to a filter-separator. When spraying, I have a small air bleed at the bottom of the tank and at the bottom of the filter to drain any moisture. Try not to have heavy draws of air while spraying. Take your time.
