Default 31 Coupe Windshield Pivot

Hello:

Does any one know if you can replace just the "pin" on the windshield pivot bracket? I have a nice windshield frame that is missing the attaching pin (see picture). Snyders has a replacement bracket, but 1) I really do not want to drill our the old rivets and try to re-rivet the frame. Not sure how to do that and afraid I will damage the frame. 2) I have not seen the rivets in the Synders catalog.

Any advice, resources of words of wisdom appreciated. Thanks - Arty

That "pin" is more of a clinch nut which is threaded on the inside. I'm missing one of mine but haven't started looking for it yet. You could, of course, be talking about the two pins/rivets that hold the bracket to the windshield frame. Just in case it's the threaded clinch nut. Here it is.

An alternate idea would be to use a binding barrel & screw type fastener. They are available in many different sizes and materials. These are 2 piece rivets. One half is a hollow threaded rivet barrel that accepts a machine screw. Check out McMaster-Carrs catalog listed under rivets for various sizes https://www.mcmaster.com/rivets.

Thank you both. I will order one form Mike's and see how if goes. Beats replacing the entire bracket. Thanks for the help.

Rivets are getting really hard to find. When you do find some grab them up.

Bratton's has the replacement for that hole. It is called windshield press in nut. They work good.

I've replaced those on mine. I had a very hard time getting them to press in tight enough to stay. They still wiggle a bit in the holes. If I was pickier, I might bring them to a machine shop to get them fitted tighter.
