Pop Out Switch
Is this pop out switch the correct one for my June 1930 Town Sedan?
Thanks for any info. (Click on thumbnail photo to enlarge)

Re: Pop Out Switch
Best to check your judging standards to be right on if you are doing a points car.

Re: Pop Out Switch
If you want to check the popout for proper function, when the switch is off there should be continuity from the distributor contact to the switch housing (ground) There should be no continuity from the coil terminal on the switch head to ground and no continuity to the distributor wire.
When the switch is turned on there should be continuity from the coil terminal to the distributor contact, but no continutity to ground from either terminal. When making these checks you may want to flex the cable some to make sure you don't have an intermitent problem with grounding or opens. |

Re: Pop Out Switch
Thanks, Joop.
I have the Judging Standards, but it doesn't show the "trade mark" on the back of the switch.

Re: Pop Out Switch
There were at least two trade marks. Briggs and Stratton had a very small triangle stamped in the center of the rear cover.

Re: Pop Out Switch
Hi Mitch,
The pop out switch is correct for the dash panel in your photo. But your dash is from a late 30/31 style dash panel. If your car is a june 1930 then someone may have changed the gas tank. The later style dash was not used until Oct. 1930 to the end of production. Jim |

Re: Pop Out Switch
Is the other end (dizzy end) correct (check J.S.), and does the key number fit with the year and month of the car? Sorry, I don't have that list. Maybe there's a key x-pert out there that can chime in and give some guiding light? You do, of course, have the original wire key ring? Some lucky guy (read: idiot) got one for several hundred dollars on Ebay a few years ago, or you could make your own from a piece of wire for near zip. Two original keys required, of course. Could I interest you in some original tire air? Smells different than new tire air. Really! (red rubber tube vs butyl smell)
