august 12th is rapidly approaching. There will be a T based banger hillclimb car that can smoke almost all V-8s on display and running.

I may get ripped for this. I am active on here AND on HAMB banger thread. I assume any one with similar interest is as well. Why is there this need to post banger stuff on a restorer forum? I have secrets of speed stuff, just dont get the need to post here.

Here is my hopped up 4 banger in Haslers Hot Rod. It has dual carbs, insert bearings, high compression head, oversized pistions and valves and a v8 exhaust

Back a few years ago, I borrowed Walt Dupont's Modified B engine powered "A" coupe. As I was racing across the yard his daughter caught me with here lawn mower. Walt took me to lunch in it and I was really supprised at the power and speed this little engine had.Tanks for the ride Walt.

Hi Hasler:

How do you like the dual updraft manifold? I love the looks of it and been kicking it around for my Pop's banger.

Looks like a rather inefficient manifold in terms of airflow, with its sharp 90 degree turns. Air doesn't like to change direction in an intake tract so you need to do it as gently as possible. Plus, there's probably a lot of turbulence generated by air flowing into the larger log portion then squeezing back down to go into the port. Contrast that intake with the factory exhaust manifold and note the gradual curves, not sharp 90 degree turns.

Hey Ol Ron,
Whereas the '32 four had all of about 40 hp(?), these fours can be and are often built up to 150 hp !
Here's my most recent '32 test running yesterday. I'm figuring +/- 100hp.
And, that hp can easily be hopped up more, if strong build.

I had a B motor in a 29 Roadster Pickup. I had a Cook 4 port, Winfield carbs, and Kong ignition. Here it is in 1976. Left to right is Kong Jackson, Ed Winfield and me Tim Avery in front of Ed's house in Las Vegas. Kong bought Mrs Winfields 40 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe that day. It had less than 40,000 miles, leather upholstery and it started right up.

Bangers were fun but now i have a 59A in a 32 roadster. Still a project.
