Default Kong Head for Model A/B engine

Has anyone ever seen a Kong head for the A/B engines? How rare are they? How are they as far as performance?
Thanks,
Scott

I have never seen one and still haven't. How about a picture? On a serious note Kong had a good reputation with the V8 guys, I didn't even know he made heads for the 4 cylinders. I have been into Model A for the last 60 years in the Southern California area and would have probably seen one if very many were made.

Picture I saw today is one a friend sent me. He just acquired it. It is unmachined. It certainly looks like an A head but I need to see it in person. I am not comfortable posting a pic because it’s not mine. I am interested in the value because I would love to have it but I fear that it’s way out of my league as far as price goes. ( that is if he ever decides to sell it). Thank you for the reply and if I get permission I will post some pics.
Thanks,
Scott

I guess technically it’s a B head as there was no water pump provision in the head.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, B heads have a provision for a water pump? There is no provision for a water pump in the V8 heads after 1936. Any chance you are looking at a single V8 head?

I owned and ran a Kong Jackson head on a speedster some when I ran with AARA. It is an air-cooled head. It really is not designed for a street application. There is no water pump provision as only the block retained water.

I knew Kong, but never saw or heard of a Model A head by him. He was most noted for his V8 ignitions but did make V8 heads in the 80's. They had the fins going 'the wrong way', vertically. Kong was our contact for our 'Winfield week-ends'.

Do you also have a picture of the “important” side?

Also it looks like a flathead intake manifold beside it.

You are correct. A v8 intake next to it.
What v8 has a bolt pattern like that?

It looks like a V8 head at first glance but the bolt pattern is not for a V8, no way. I think it could be for an A or B. I see a hole for the distributor, the plugs would be centered between the valves with the last four head bolts right next to them. I don't know what he water pump deal would be, unless the head is super thick. Maybe a remote pump/no pump? Does it say Kong? I can't tell. If Jim Brierly hasn't seen one, it has to be super rare.

Maybe a 60HP flathead?

That's an A or B bolt pattern.
