I bought a set of Sears years ago when they started selling them but never liked them. But still have them.

Re: Anyone try open end ratcheting wrenches?
Snap-On offered the speed open end wrenches in the early '60s. They usually ended up in the tool box not being used.

Re: Anyone try open end ratcheting wrenches?
Like all open end wrenches, they only have two surfaces on the bolt or nut, and the 'ratcheting' type have less than two. That is too few if the nut is old, stuck, valuable, or anything less than perfect, then you risk rounding it off. 6 point saves your fastener and is the best chance of getting the item loose or tight without damage.
On old stuff, this is even more true. Some fasteners are not easily replaced, as I am finding out quickly. I have some crossmember bolts that are 7/16 x 24. Standard fine thread is 20! |

Re: Anyone try open end ratcheting wrenches?
I have a set I got as a gift years ago. I hate them. Don't waste your money. I'd gladly trade mine for a set of plain ol' Craftsman combination wrenches.
